behaving weirdly? Linksys extender connected but no internet? Is your
Linksys extender not working? If the answer to the mentioned issues
is in yes, then you must update Linksys extender's firmware to the
latest version.
Linksys regularly releases the
latest updates in order to enhance security and add new features.
Prior to proceeding with the
Linksys extender firmware update, ensure that you have done the
following:
- Download the latest version of firmware for your Linksys WiFi range extender from the official website.
For the Linksys update
process, follow the steps below:
Step 1:
- Connect your Linksys range extender to your router using an Ethernet cable. Make sure that your Linksys range extender is properly plugged into a working wall outlet.
Step 2:
- Turn on a computer or laptop and access the Linksys range extender's web-based setup page via an internet browser.
- Enter Linksys extender IP address in the browser's address bar field.
Note: If your Linksys extender is already configured, you may either enter extender.linksys.com in the browser's address bar or check your router’s DHCP Client Table and find the extender's IP address.
Step 3:
- A pop-up window will appear.
- Enter your Linksys extender's username and password.
- Click on the Log In button once you're done.
To update the latest version
of firmware on Linksys RE6500, RE3000W v2, or RE4100W extender,
follow the steps below:
Step 1:
On the Linksys extender's
web-based setup page, click on Firmware Upgrade option under the
Administration section.
Step 2:
- Click on the Choose File button.
Step 3:
- Select your Linksys extender firmware file you downloaded earlier.
- Once done, click on Open.
Step 4:
- Click Start Upgrade.
The status of the Linksys extender firmware update process will be displayed on the same page. To avoid any problems with your Linksys range extender, do not interrupt the firmware update process.
To update the latest version
of firmware on Linksys RE1000, RE2000, RE3000, RE3000W, or RE4000W
extender, follow the steps below:
Step 1:
- On the Linksys extender setup page, click on the Administration tab.
- Once done, click on Firmware Upgrade.
Step 2:
- Click the Browse button.
Step 3:
- Select the firmware file downloaded by you earlier then click Open.
Step 4:
- Click on the Start Upgrade button.
The progress of the firmware
update process will be shown on the same page. To avoid any issue
with your Linksys WiFi extender, it is recommended - do not interrupt
the update process in between.
Step 5:
- When the update process gets completed, click on the Continue button when prompted.
